His Excellency the Chairman of the Council chairs the fifth consultative meeting to discuss issues related to the development of university education

His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council of University Affairs, Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, chaired the fifth consultative meeting on Thursday, 6/7/1445 AH, in Al-Ahsa Governorate in the Eastern Province, in the presence of Their Excellencies the presidents of public universities.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council welcomed the newly appointed university presidents: the President of the Saudi Electronic University, the President of Hafr Al-Batin University, and the President of the Northern Border University, as well as the renewed presidents: the President of Taif University, the President of Al-Jouf University, and the President of Bisha University. He wished them success in achieving the goals and mission of the universities.
His Excellency the Minister of Education also noted the continued support that the education sector in the Kingdom in general, and university education in particular, receives from the wise leadership, out of its belief in the mission and essential role of basic education in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and developing human capacity in the Kingdom. His Excellency the Minister of Education, Chairman of the Council, highlighted to the university presidents the importance of leveraging the support and empowerment universities receive to redouble efforts and achieve the goals of each university, providing quality outputs that support the labor market and keep pace with the development phase the Kingdom is witnessing in all fields.
Dr. Bassam Al-Bassam, Secretary-General of the Council of University Affairs, explained that the meeting discussed several topics related to the development of the university education system and the mechanisms for its development and implementation. Most notable among these were the financial sustainability of universities, the governance of their procedures, and the diversification of alternative sources of income.
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Education, Chairman of the Council, honored a number of former university presidents, including: His Highness Prince Dr. Mamdouh bin Saud bin Thunayan Al Saud, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Yahya Al-Shehri, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Qablan Al-Sarani, His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Muflih Al-Saqr, and Her Excellency Dr. Lailak bint Ahmed Al-Safadi, for their efforts during their previous tenure.
