Discussing the best method for appointing teaching assistants, lecturers, and assistant professors, and addressing those who are struggling, as well as those on scholarship who were unable to complete their postgraduate studies and obtain the required qualifications.
Text decision
First: Anyone appointed to the position of teaching assistant prior to the approval of these recommendations will be granted a grace period of one year to begin their graduate or language studies, if their studies so require, in accordance with the University Council's decision. If they fail to begin their studies, their service will be terminated. The University Council may extend this grace period if necessary, not to exceed two years.
Second: Universities are urged to implement paragraph (1) of Article (Thirty) of the Regulations for Scholarships and Training for University Staff issued by Higher Education Council Resolution No. (6/4/1417) dated 7/2/1417 AH, regarding the termination of the service of a scholarship student who fails in their graduate studies. This regulation requires a decision to terminate the scholarship student's registration within a period not exceeding one year from the date of termination of their scholarship. The University Council may extend this grace period if necessary.
With regard to items (First) and (Second) referred to above, the Secretariat of the University Affairs Council shall make the necessary amendments to the articles affected by this regulation and submit the findings to the University Affairs Council for approval. Third: It is permissible to appoint teaching assistants, lecturers, and assistant professors at the university, after the approval of this decision, through contracting in accordance with the university faculty scale.
